Street markets are great places to browse, find fresh fruits and vegetables, and discover some bargains. The action starts early in the morning and goes around 2:00 PM. As you would expect, best choices are available early; best bargains are available late. Our favorite markets are:
Benalmadena - near Tivoli - Friday
Mijas las Lagunas - Saturday
Fuengirola - at the Feria - Thursday
Food - Groceries
Lidl - Bargains abound at Lidl, the German low price grocery store. Staples and basics are best bought at Lidl.
Euromarket - The hypermarket associated with the Cayetano grocery chain. Most anything needed can be found at the Euromarket.
Hipercor - Along with El Corte Ingles, this is the latest addition to shopping in the area. Huge selections and variety.
Eroski - In the shopping center near Sohail castle in Fuengirola.

Great food at great prices. While not necessarily a selection of "fine dining", these options are reasonable and among our favorites.
Venta los Morenos - on the Mijas-Coín road near Alhuarín el Grande. Fantastic food at great prices. Try to go during a night when they have their barbeque for a delicious meal.

Euromarket Cafeteria - For lunch, nothing beats the value offered at the Euromarket cafeteria! A starter, main course with rice or vegetables, bread, dessert and drink all for EUR 7.50. There is so much food that two can eat for the price. Selections change every day and feature typical dishes. A favorite of locals for the value and choice.
Casa Manolo - Mijas las Lagunas on Avenida de Mijas just off the N340 (opposite side from the Euromarket). Great Menu del Día selections, or just try some tapas or raciones.
